The microwave shelf...the microwave used to sit beside the KitchenAid and under the toaster.
Wine rack and fruit basket. Below: a heavy duty wire basket that's perfect for throwing hats, scarves and mittens. And at bottom: Chris built a toaster stand with a shelf for tea, sugar and a few common spices. On the counter below it, I store bread.

I like the rack for gloves and hats. How did you install it? Is it just drilled in? Do you ever bump up against it?
We're not even sure what its original use is. We found it as a set of 3 at a thrift store for $14.99. It has holes for screws so we lined up to studs and drilled it in. It's probably 1/4" diameter painted metal. Really sturdy. Every so often a few mitts will fall through (the openings are a tad big for the kids' stuff.) No, no bumping...it's installed right above the boot rack. We put it under the window so that the kids could reach it and NOT behind the door for the door to slam into. It's not particularly pretty (our house is temporary) but it seemed a great solution to our eternal problem of mitts and scarves strewn EVERYWHERE.
