My name is Katie Newton, I want to see Canada and the United States, but I can't really do that. This is my teddy bear, she needs your help. Turtle wants to see as much of Canada and the United States as she can. Write about yourself in her journal and then introduce her to someone new. Talk to her lots because I will miss her. I got her for my birthday. Turtle wants to meet as many new people as she can. If you keep her for more than one day, try to write in her journal often.

In January 2011 she will be ready to come home. In her journal is some money. If you have Turtle in January 2011 find a sturdy box and use the money to mail her to this address: K. Newton, Box 646, Barriere, B.C. VOE 1EO.

Today I took her to school and gave her to my teacher, thus starting her journey. Check back in January 2011 to learn about Turtle's trip.

What a wonderful idea Katie!! I look forward to Turtle's return and your update.
I must admit that I was very sad to see Turtle go today :( She was very polite, observant, curious and a wonderful guest. Storm, our dog, was very curious about our new visitor and wanted to play with her by showing off some of her new toys, but instead we kept Turtle busy by taking her for a short walk around Kamloops downtown to introduce her to the area. It was a short visit and very cold. I hope she is able to return to our place on her way home during some hotter summer months so that we can take her down to the Thompson River for a swim or perhaps on a hike along one of our beautiful trails. If she would be up for it she may want to climb Mount Peter or Paul? Who knows...perhaps we would even have some time to play golf?
This afternoon she was off as she left with Noel on a business trip and tour of Vancouver! She had a great view of the Coquihalla Highway as she had the front seat and from what I have heard so far the road conditions were quite reasonable for this time of year. Noel is very excited to have someone to share his travels with and I look forward to sharing some pictures of his adventures with Turtle at school...perhaps tomorrow. Not sure where Turtle will end up next, but I look forward to reading and hearing about it :) What a wonderful and fun idea Katie! We will have to keep the class updated with "Turtle's Road Trip." See you tomorrow!
